Snippets

(Inspired by Julie's sweet list :-))

Some little snippets of life with John.

-- His unbridled excitement when he says hi to us, or to Lucy. He practically yells "Hi, Dad!" when Tommy gets him in the morning. And the poor thing will say hi to Lucy 10 times in a row, just waiting for her to answer back.

-- The way he says "Oh, boy" in this pathetic little voice when he's frustrated or stuck or told that he can't do something. We have no idea where it came from.

-- The goodbyes. Oh, the goodbyes are enough to break your heart. Leaving the bathtub is quite the production -- "Bye bye duck. Bye bye bubbles. Bye bye Elmo. Bye bye Ernie ..." and so on and so on. Today at playgroup we said goodbye to the blue train, red train, and the green train before we could leave the room. And we don't even read Goodnight Moon.

-- The one and only Spanish word he's picked up from all of his Dora episodes is "Abre" for open. And he uses it a lot. A LOT.

-- He calls q-tips "ears".

-- The obvious thrill he got this evening watching us sing together, with hand motions, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". He started directing us to sing it again and again, waving his arms like a little conductor.

-- That we hear him sneeze in his crib, and then say "Bless You" to himself.

He really is a fun little boy, and such a sweetheart, even in spite of the almost-two's. We are very blessed.

I wish we lived closer! I can just hear the conversations between Anna and John!
