Isn't this a sweet picture? Too bad it says more about John's newfound love for utensils than his devotion to us. He is currently obsessed with blue forks (specifically, the kind that are in the Target One Spot right now) If you hand him a red fork, he will look it over, hand it back, and remind you that he did in fact ask for a blue fork. No meal is complete unless each bite has been stabbed and smashed beyond recognition. Did you know that you can eat dry Cheerios with a fork? Even better, did you know that toddlers are capable of opening silverware drawers and reaching around in there until they find a fork -- any fork -- so that they can properly enjoy their Pirate's Booty? Guess it's time to find a new home for the steak knives.
So while I'd like to say that this picture shows how much John loves to eat with his daddy, it's really all about the flatware.
