We had so much fun with them here, but I think John had the most fun with their daughter Lillian. They are almost the same age and have similar schedules and temperaments, meaning a week of blissfully trauma-free playtime for Rebecca and me. These kids got along so well it was scary. They gladly took turns with toys with never a fight, played and giggled together, and encouraged each other in all kinds of positive behavior. Case in point -- John asked to eat broccoli because Lillian was having some. And they wore each other completely out, resulting in good naps and bedtimes all around. Halls, you can stay here forever.
But the party had to end, and I'm pretty sure that John's heart shattered into a million pieces when they pulled out of the driveway yesterday. He sobbed "Lillian, Lillian" over and over again and was just inconsolable. (Of course, a few minutes later, he also asked for her Baby Tad toy, and cried all over again when he realized that it was gone with her.)
