8 Months!

Betsy is eight months old today! She had quite the week -- a trip to the children's museum with Aidan and Owen on Monday, a picnic in the park with Mitch on Tuesday, the sprinkler park with Haley and Sydney on Wednesday, fun at the gym on Thursday, and a swim with Victor today. And she even managed to fit her first attempt at crawling in her busy social schedule! It's an army crawl right now, but it's clear that when she wants to get somewhere, she's going to find a way to make it happen. And usually, she wants to go wherever John's toys are.

She made it through her first ear infection last week. All the mold in the air was giving her a hard time with allergies, and the drainage finally took a toll. We caught it early, and the worst part for her was the medicine. After three years of John taking his medicine so easily, we were not really prepared for her totally rejecting it. (Though with the way she's responded to bottles and spoons, we shouldn't have been surprised!) We had to pull out all of our tricks -- it took both of us holding her down, squirting the medicine into the back corner of her mouth, and then massaging her throat to get her to swallow. Much like giving a cat a pill, though even Franklin takes medicine better than she did.

She is eating a lot more enthusiastically now that we've abandoned all hope of getting her to eat baby food. She's had Cheerios, Gerber puffs, diced pears, diced carrots, diced green beans, toast, bananas, and even a little bit of a pancake tonight. As soon as the food hits the tray, she starts grabbing for it with both hands. Our delicate little flower. :-)

Awww, I can't believe Betsy is eight months. Where does the time go?

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with a girl who has a healthy appetite! It's endearing. LOL!
