I know that it's Wednesday, and we're just getting around to posting about the weekend. It was that busy.
After all the birthday hilarity on Friday, we spent some of Saturday relaxing and doing errands. That night, the engineers from Shanghai came over for a Texas dinner -- brisket, potato salad, and Lone Star. The guys were really sweet and brought a birthday cake for John, and then stayed while Tommy taught them how to play Texas Hold Em.
Then after church on Sunday, we went to the park and enjoyed a spring picnic with the neighborhood moms group -- husbands and kids got to come along, too! From there, I stopped by to see Baby Will while John helped Tommy with youth group.
But wait, there's more!
On Monday, we were back at UT for another research study at the Children's Research Lab. This one was looking at how children learn labels -- basically, we determined that John is very trusting of adults, and if we tell him that a red ball (which he has already identified as such) is really called a gorp, he will call it a gorp when the researcher pulls it out of the box, and will also identify the gorp in a lineup of toys. (He did go back to calling it a red ball the next time he saw it!)
That night, it was more fun with the moms -- Ladies Night at Melting Pot. Because give me a bowl of cheese and bread, and I'm there. So much fun.
And this is what Tommy was doing while I was out.
