But Wait, There's More ...

On Friday night, we went back to TBarM. G and Grandpa, with Aunt Caitlin, are attending Family Camp, and it was Date Night -- which pretty much guarantees that a trip to The Grist Mill is on the schedule. Great food and a chance to hang out with everyone. No pictures, but John did get to try his first onion ring.

Saturday morning before the party, we took a big family trip to Lowe's ... (drumroll please ...) and I am happy to report that a few coats of paint and a new doorknob later, the downstairs bathroom/hall/closet/entryway is COMPLETE! Two years, two months, and four days after it all started. I just sit back and admire it now. Helps take my mind off the gaping hole in my living room wall and floor.

Then we monkeyed around with Victor for a few hours.

And then (with no nap) we got ready again, this time for a party in honor of our dear friends the Pavys, who are leaving for Baton Rouge in just a few days. The party was at the Parkers' house, and John spent most of the evening (and pretty much every waking moment ever since) saying "Aubrey" (Au-bee). For a while there, he and the object of his affection sat across from each other in the playscape saying Au-bee back and forth to each other like little Furbies. Precious!

Church on Sunday. Long nap (yay!) and another trip to the sprinkler park at Brushy Creek. As it turns out, if the heat index is over 100 and there's free, cold water coming out of the ground, we're there.

Then Sunday night, another going away party for our friends the Hurleys, who are moving to South Carolina where Jonathan will start seminary in just a few weeks. Yes, everyone we know is moving away. We're bummed. But it was still fun to see them and wish them well.

Tune in later for an update from John's 15-month appointment!
