15 Month Stats

John went to see the doctor for his 15-month appointment on Tuesday. The good news is that he's back up to 20 lbs, right on the dot, putting him back in the 3rd percentile. He also grew a little bit taller, up to 29 3/4 in. (10th percentile.) And he got shots. Maybe it's because these shots were more painful -- the nurse told me they would sting more than usual -- or maybe John was just more emotional about them, but I think this was the worst shot experience yet. He looked at me with such confusion and pain and screamed so much. Poor little guy. (A Teddy Graham on the way to the car helped some, though.)

Otherwise, he got a great report, and has been keeping us entertained with lots of new tricks. He loves to play guitar with his daddy. He will move Tommy's hand out of the way so that he can strum on it himself. And he's gotten very bold about climbing onto his rocking horse by himself, and even standing up in the "saddle" to rock -- or, to try to reach the guitar hanging on the wall! New words -- coo-coo (for train, or 18-wheeler), bee (beans), cookie, and we're working diligently on Gig Em to prepare for Uncle Dash's graduation tomorrow.

Oh, and he finally decided he likes walking, sort of. Still crawls most of the time, but on Monday night he surprised us by walking back and forth between us, and then even walked with me from the kitchen to the stairs! He's taken a few steps to get to us at various times since, but I think his favorite parts is collapsing into a hug when he gets to us.
