Time to rock it from the Delta to the DMZ*

(I will really, really try to make that my only "Good Morning, Vietnam" reference.)

We are going on vacation this week! Woo hoo! And where are we going? Warm, sunny.... Vietnam. Yep. Vietnam. And we are so excited.

Chinese New Year doesn't start until Feb 14th, but we are taking off early because it is quite literally the ONLY flight we could get out of this country in February using frequent flier miles. We picked Vietnam because we have friends who have gone and loved it, the art is beautiful, we like Vietnamese food, the weather right now is warm and sunny, we get to see beaches and historical sites, and did we mention it was the ONLY flight we could get?

So, on Wednesday morning we will pack up the kids and head first to Ho Chih Minh City (Saigon), and then on to Phu Quoc, a little island just south of Cambodia. We're going to get to do some sight-seeing, some shopping, and some lounging on the beach.

We don't know much about where we're going or what we're getting ourselves into, except that our Lonely Planet guide does list "undetonated explosives" in the Traveler Beware section. But if the glowing recommendations of some of our friends are any indication, it's going to be an amazing adventure.

*We are not actually going to the Delta or the DMZ. But I really wanted to. :-)
